The Poetry of Ruth - Pg 2

Oprah
Blessed art thou amoung women.
I celebrate you,
for all the loving charitable "good" work
you have done and continue to do -
to the glory of God,
from your beloved God-filled heart.
Especially on behalf of the children.
Though you have not given birth
from your own womb,
you have given new life to millions
of children around the world.
You are indeed a most precious pearl.
I celebrate you
for inspiring the children
to read and learn
to explore
through the world around them,
to be concerned and care
for others welfare -
challenging them not to bury their gifts and talents,
nor their minds and heads in the dank
tunnels and barren sand,
but to take up the lantern which lights
through the darkness -
illuminating the paths of others to follow
and command.
You have set in motion a love potion
of a mighty force
empowered with integrity and compassion,
responsibility and trust,
honor and dignity -
to chart a new defining course.
A force which will infuse higher levels
of meaningful achievements,
inspire greater awareness and perception,
and encourage many honorable accomplishments
and generate rewards of sustained significance.
I celebrate you
for the desire
birthed in your spirit
to make a difference,
to press on,
to be a blessing,
to go for the gold,
to follow through with life's lessons,
to be an instrument of help,
rather than that of a hindrance.
(cont'd at top of page)
I celebrate you
for your open platform,
for choosing not to bend or conform,
for staying in the fiery fire,
for choosing God on Whom you would rely,
for believing in the good in man,
for choosing to defend the right
of woman to stand,
for taking on the abused child cause,
for choosing to fight to rectify
the wretched laws,
for keeping your eyes on the prize,
for choosing the gift of pleasant surprise!
for being the wonderful you that you are,
for giving a person a brand new car.
I celebrate you
as a life giver,
who was birthed along the banks
of the Jehovah Jireh River.
You have brought tears of woe to overflow,
and dried them up to hearts aglow.
To many you have given life of real substance,
and changed new lives to be enhanced.
I celebrate you
my precious sister and friend,
and I celebrate dear precious Gail as well.
You are both and example
of the "body" of Christ
as it is intended when it is ascended.
Bless you continually
in all that you do,
and know that here sits one
who truly celebrates you,
who is really proud of you,
and thanks you
for being you.
Your sister, Ruth

I AM SOMEBODY
(By Jasmine, October 5, 2004 (at age 13)
I am a living vessel who lost her sinful life
To gain a spiritual one
Inside this vessel is the smell of chamomile
Who is strong, yet gentle like a grandmother
Never overpowering
But never losing its identity
I am like the smoothness of cashmere
Like a warm, comforting hug from a dad
Overflowing with love
Hardworking and helpful
Being daddy's little ladybug
I am like a sound as sweet as a piano being played
Filling the air with its joyful melody
A complex, yet simple song
A tangy taste like papaya
Unique but sweet and comforting
I am like the sun shining brightly with its warm,
Sunny rays
On the outside sweet
On the inside mighty and powerful
Happy as a nine-year old in Central Park
Happy as biting into a piece of European chocolate
For the first time
I am yellow like the sun -
Bright, cheerful and energetic
To the point of annoyance
I am Jasmine Ruth Dunamis Jones
I Am Somebody!
